Check-in to the Hotel Healdsburg – your luxury four star spa hotel and home for the next three nights; surrounded by more than 100 wineries within 10 miles (should you be worried) with a wonderful 60-foot garden pool, and a hot tub to relax in at the end of a long day’s wine tasting. Or a gym if you’re feeling the excess! Close by is the town of Santa Rosa and the beautiful Armstrong Redwoods Trail if you’re feeling adventurous
Your second day is all about the wild and rugged wine region of Sonoma Valley and the finest New World Pinot Noirs. An expert wine guide and driver will collect you from your hotel after breakfast and escort you to four of the finest Sonoma county vineyards throughout the course of the day. This includes two wineries in the Russian River Valley and two in Dry Creek Valley with a picnic lunch with breath-taking views in between. Many of the tasting rooms have stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Russian River Valley or use impressive organic and biodynamic farming methods. At the tutored tasting sessions you will will meet the humble makers and behind this world-renowned region and taste their produce. As the sun sets your wine guide will return you back to your hotel. This evening we recommend a visit the nearby town of Healdsburg for dinner – the charming culinary epicentre of this wine region with everything from hamburgers to haute cuisine. We have an impressive restaurant list that will satisfy even the most gourmand amongst you. Explore the town plaza, shops, bars, tasting rooms, galleries and the monthly artwalk.
Today is all about California’s most famous wine region: Napa Valley, where you’ll be soaking up its finest Cabernet Sauvignons, Petite Sirah and Zinfandels and learn about the terroirs, vines and spirit of this incredible wine region. Your wine guide will escort you to four wineries throughout the course of the day winding your way up the Napa Valley from iconic large scale, to smaller family run estates. The first stop is at an iconic, big name winery which produces an impressive 100,000 cases a year which demonstrates the scale of this wine region. Stop for a picnic lunch with a view of the vineyards and finish up in a small family run winery tucked away on Spring Mountain – a prime example of a long-time small producer in the mountains. After being dropped off at your hotel we recommend dinner in the nearby town of Santa Rosa or at the Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen at your hotel which serves delightful French cuisine.
On your final day, spend the morning relaxing by the pool and enjoying some spa treatments. Pack a picnic before you check out and leave via the coastal route. We suggest a stop at the sandy beaches of Jenner, a beautiful nature spot with spectacular sunsets. From here take the coast road south to Bodega Bay and hike along this dramatic coastline.
