  1. Arriving in Lyon, soak up the atmosphere of the third largest city in France, known as the food capital of France!

Continue your  experience with an excellent full day tour in the northern Rhône Valley, discover the homeland of the legendary Syrah and Viognier grapes and taste intense aromatic wines for yourself in ancient vineyards. You will learn about the wine making process and enjoy lunch tasting regional cuisine
  3. Explore the UNESCO world heritage site of Lyon, or discover the boutiques shops and enjoy the food in a local restaurant  and see why Lyon is known as the capital of French gastronomy, before bidding farewell to this great city

Getting Here: SmoothRed is ABTA and ATOL bonded and happy to make travel arrangements for you.  Lyon’s Saint-Exupéry Airport sees regular low cost flights arrive from the UK. British Airways operates from London Heathrow, whilst Gatwick and Luton are served by EasyJet. Aer Lingus operates seasonal flights from Gatwick, whilst Birmingham flights are run by Flybe, Edinburgh by EasyJet and Manchester by both Flybe and EasyJet. Lyon is linked with a number of French cities via rail, including Paris and Lille, both of which can be reached on the Eurostar from London St. Pancras. The total journey time from London to Lyon will be around 5½-6 hours. Lyon is 5 hours away from Paris by road, via the A6. Coming from any of the ferry ports in Northern France is likely to add 2½-3½ hours onto that journey time.

We had a fantastic trip to Rioja with Smooth Red. The tour guide, wineries and hotels were all magnificent. A truly memorable trip and a great wine and food experience.

Our wine tasting in the Loire Valley was amazing!
We stayed in 'Chateau Bouvet Ladubay' the building was very grand but in a relaxed way! The hosts were lovely, they were there when necessary but quietly disappeared when they were not needed! The day's wine tasting included information on wine growing, a bike ride in the vast cellars (anyone who can stay upright on a bike could manage the ride whether 18 or 80!), a lovely picnic lunch and plenty of wine to try!!!
Smoothred is a company that I highly recommend - from start to finish they have been helpful and very well organised. They ensured that our break in the Loire Valley was personal and memorable!
