Trip details

Day 1

Relax with rail travel to Avignon, on arrival will be met with private transfers to the hotel. Settle into your boutique hotel in Avignon. On the first day of your Provence wine tour, take the chance to explore Avignon’s picturesque squares, shops and galleries and see artists, actors, mimes and musicians plying their trade around the spectacular Palais du Papes. Then it’s on to a pre-dinner tasting where you’ll enjoy a range of the region’s most prestigious wines including the rosés for which Provence is most famous, alongside a selection of local cheeses.

Day 2

After breakfast there’s no time to waste as you meet your English-speaking guide for a private day in the vineyards and  discover the complex and famous terroir of Chateauneuf-du -Pape. Here you’ll learn secrets old and new as you compare the winemaking techniques of yesterday and today.  Visit a boutique family owned winery with a stunning tasting before lunch. Unwind for lunch in a typical Provençale restaurant. In the afternoon, an opportunity to visit an organic winery, before concluding the day with a private wine tasting in a cellar situated in the old Chateauneuf-du-Pape village.

Day 3

The day is free to explore the imposing historical palace located in Avignon, Palais des Pape, then take in the surroundings from the gardens of Rocher des Doms, or maybe venture out into the surrounding lush lavender fields. Option for gourmet lovers, a memorable market tour with a Provencal cooking experience or chefs tasting table, please ask for details!

Day 4

A chance to relax in the city, perhaps a quick lunch with a few glasses of wine from the surrounding region before you leave (lunch not included). Relax with private transfers and rail travel to London or Paris.
