Trip details

Day 1

Eurotunnel travel from Folkestone to Calais, and drive to Strasbourg. Settle into your five-star spa hotel located in the heart of the historic city centre of Strasbourg. Take the afternoon to relax at the pool or indulge in a spa treatment. Venture out and explore the many monuments which make Strasbourg a classified UNESCO world heritage site (the first city in France to be so honoured).  This evening, enjoy a pre-dinner wine tutorial in a wine gallery in the city centre. This will introduce you to the tastes and terroirs to come.

Day 2

Today your expert wine guide will chauffeur you along the northern part of the Alsace wine route from the village of Marlenheim to Dambach la Ville. You’ll visit four wine estates or caveaux, as they are known locally, where you’ll meet the winemakers, learn about the wine production process and taste up to twelve different wines. You’ll stop for lunch with wines at one of the historic towns en route.

Day 3

Your second full-day wine tour is devoted to the southern part of the wine route between Châtenois and Turckheim. Today includes four visits to local wine estates, tasting up to twelve wines and giving you the chance to compare the grape varieties, blends and processes with the previous day’s tour. Enjoy a local lunch with accompanying wines. Finish the day with a memorable five-course meal with accompanying wine at a  Michelin restaurant in the heart of historic Strasbourg.

Day 4

Before heading home, take the morning to explore Strasbourg or Colmar in more depth, such as the sandstone cathedral and its famous astronomical clock, before bidding farewell to one of France’s most beautiful wine regions. Self-drive back to Calais for your Eurotunnel to Folkestone.
